CHRISTOPHER BLOSSOM
~ Retrospective Exhibition ~
The Salmagundi Club, New York City, May, 2009
|
The Exhibition
featured 20 paintings from the artist's illustrious career, borrowed from
collectors and galleries, and was held in the newly refurbished
Patron's Gallery at The Salmagundi Club. Included were examples of the masterful marine
paintings for which he is acclaimed, from the dramatic view of the
Australian Grain Ship, the
GRACE HARWAR
in the monstrous seas of the Southern Ocean, a voyage made famous by Alan
Villiers' book "By Way of Cape Horn," to the Steamer
PAVONIA in Boston Harbor, seen in the bright orange twilight. Historic
recreations of the Gloucester Fishing Schooners of the East Coast to the
distinctive vessels of the West Coast and San Francisco Bay, along with
his working preparatory sketches, were also on view. Also included were his Western and European Landscapes depicting inland and coastal scenes
from Colorado, Maine, France and the Bahamas. Presented in conjunction
with the 2nd Annual American Masters Exhibition, Chris Blossom's
Retrospective was the first opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs to
experience a full range of this artist's unique accomplishments. |
