From 1897-1913, famed Canadian/ American painter Charles Paul Gruppe lived and worked in Holland in conjunction with The Hague School painters. This painting represents the kind of paintings he made during this period. Today his work is included in collections like the Smithsonian, Brooklyn Museum of Art , National Gallery of Canada and the Dutch Royal Family.
