Moonlight, Gay Head, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

oil on canvas, 15" x 30” (Framed Dimensions: 22” x 36”)

$7,500

Situated in the colorful, 130’ clay bluffs on the western tip of Martha’s Vineyard Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, Gay Head Light was originally built in 1799 at the request of Senator Peleg Coffin, to guide sailors through Devil’s Bridge. Originally built as a simple octagonal structure, today’s Lighthouse reflects several rebuilds including a complete restoration in 1986. While it’s prominence has aided navigation for two centuries, its magnificent location overlooking Vineyard Sound has made it a popular site for visitors and concert goers. Mizerek’s painting captures its stunning beauty at sunset.
