This gorgeous painting captures a still moment on Nantucket Sound- in the manner of America's first Maritime painter, Fitz Henry Lane (1804-1865) - when an astonishing variety of vessels are seen awaiting a breeze, and movement of the tide, as the sunset gives a warm, orange glow to the scene.
