A Cape Cod Scene: The sloop-rigged scow was typical
of those used in Cape Cod Bay to set and tend pound nets,
also known as fish
traps or weirs, in shallow water. The scow is fitted with a pile driver for
setting trap poles.
The sprit-rigged skiff was conceived as a separate
model, but seems at home alongside the scow.
Display – Case 6” x 10” x
10”. Base of case is new black-painted solid mahogany with cove molding.
Model base is solid cherry with quarter-round molding. The vitrine is an antique
glass dome.
