The J. Russell Jinishian Gallery
specializes in fine Contemporary and Antique Marine and Sporting Art from
Europe and America. J. Russell Jinishian, Director, is recognized as the
nation's leading authority on contemporary marine art. Mr. Jinishian is
the former Director of the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport Museum.
Under his leadership, well known personages Walter Cronkite, William F.
Buckley Jr., George Plimpton, America's Cup Sailor Gary Jobson and many
others served as jurors for the prestigious International Exhibitions of
Marine Art held each year. Through close contacts with the world's top
marine artists developed over the past 20 years, the J. Russell Jinishian
Gallery is proud to be able to offer discriminating collectors
unparalleled access to the very best marine and sporting art available in
the market at any time. On hand is an extensive inventory of over 250
paintings, drawings, scrimshaw, and ship models in a wide variety of
subjects, styles and price ranges. The Gallery offers changing exhibitions

Aside from the many
artists represented, artwork is also taken on consignment for resale.

The J. Russell Jinishian Gallery is located one hour from New York City
along the Connecticut coast. By automobile, just off 1-95 at Exit 21,
Mill Plain Road, 1/8 of a mile to Route 1, left one block to the gallery.
By train take Metro North to Fairfield Station. It is a two-minute
walk to the gallery.

A
graduate of Cornell University, J. Russell Jinishian has over 25 years
experience in the art field. He served as a Programs Director for the Silvermine Guild of Artists, the nation's oldest Guild of Artists in New
Canaan, Connecticut. He was the Art Columnist for the Connecticut Post
Newspaper for six years and his reviews appeared regularly in Art New
England. He also was a contributing editor of Nautical World Magazine
where his popular column on marine art appeared regularly. He is known
internationally as Director of the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport
Museum, from 1985 to 1995. During that period, he represented over 300 of the top marine
artists from around the world, sponsoring many groundbreaking
exhibitions including the first-ever American exhibition by the British
Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Dutch Society of Marine Artists.
For three years, he served as Director of the Big Horn Galleries in
Fairfield, Connecticut, which also operated galleries in Aspen,
Colorado, in Carmel, California and Cody, Wyoming. He continues to write
widely on the subject of marine art and art for publications like Sailing,
Sea History, and others. He is the author of
Bound for Blue
Water, considered the definitive guide to Contemporary Marine Art. He
also publishes Marine Art News, a magazine devoted to the marine
art market. He has lectured nationally on marine art and collecting, and
has served as juror for many exhibitions, including two years for the
prestigious Art for the National Parks Exhibition, and is a member of
the New York Yacht Club.
